Customizing Your Chatbot Through Our Dashboard
The goal is simple: make the chatbot feel like a built-in part of your website, with a clear opening and the right level of transparency.
We put a strong emphasis on making KedAI’s customization as easy and as accurate as possible, so we provide a wide range of chat adjustments in the dashboard.
1) Design & Colors (Color Palette)
Dashboard -> Customization -> Appearance
In the dashboard, you can choose a color palette that matches your website-so the bot’s design aligns with your site’s branding.
Choose colors for:
- Primary Background – the background for user messages
- Primary Text – the text color for user messages; make sure it has enough contrast against the Primary Background
- Secondary Background – the background for bot messages; note that text in the Primary Background color will also appear on top of it
- Secondary Text – the text color for bot messages; make sure it has enough contrast against the Secondary Background
Suggestion: you don’t have to use your website’s main color-sometimes secondary brand colors work even better.
2) Logo & Branding
Dashboard -> Management -> Settings -> Logo Settings
You can add a logo to make it clear to users who is behind the conversation. It’s a small detail with a big impact: it creates context, accountability, and the feeling that “this is part of this website.”
By default, we provide a classic chatbot logo, but you can replace it with any logo you choose. You can upload a logo as a link or as a file.
Suggestion: choose a logo that clearly signals this is a chat (even AI)-so your visitors immediately understand they can get answers in a conversational way.
3) Welcome Message (Initial Message)
Dashboard -> Management -> Settings -> Widget Settings
This is the first message users will see when they open the chat.
Recommended to include:
- What they can ask about (2–4 common topics)
- How to phrase a question
- What to do if they didn’t get an answer
Draft example: “Hi, I’m the website’s virtual assistant. You can ask me about our services, pricing, delivery timelines, and how the process works. Write in your own words-and if something isn’t clear, try asking again in a different way.”
Suggestion: the first message is not the place for a slogan. It’s the place to guide usage.
4) Initial Prompt (Popup Before Opening the Chat)
Dashboard -> Management -> Settings -> Widget Settings
Sometimes the chat is there, but people simply don’t notice it. A gentle initial prompt can significantly increase usage-as long as it isn’t aggressive.
Recommended to include:
- Short text (one line)
- A greeting and an invitation to use it
Examples:
- “Looking for a quick answer? Ask here.”
- “Have a question? Get an answer now.”
The goal is to invite gently-not to interrupt.
5) Disclaimer (Transparency & Trust)
Dashboard -> Management -> Settings -> Widget Settings
AI still raises questions for users: privacy, accuracy, “who sees this.” A short, clear disclaimer reduces concern and increases usage.
Recommended to include:
- AI can make mistakes
- Source of answers - the website content
- What not to share (personal/sensitive information)
- The website’s Terms of Use / Privacy policy
Draft example: “The chat answers based on the content on this website. Please avoid sharing personal or sensitive information.”
Custom Interface
We know that in some cases a more advanced, dedicated customization of the chat interface is needed. That’s why our platform is built to support creating a custom interface using the same KedAI engine that powers the bot. If you have a unique idea for integrating AI into your website or internal systems, we can help you use KedAI’s engine and tailor the interface exactly as you envisioned.
Please note: this is not building a project from scratch-it’s adapting an existing infrastructure to your needs, which significantly shortens development time and reduces costs. Visit the Custom Solutions page to learn more.
